While gathering pecans for their winter food supply, two Texas frontier boys are taken by surprise. They are surrounded and taken captive by a band of Comanche Indians, then forced to march many miles from their home and away from their families.
After several futile escape attempts, they elude their captors and find themselves alone on a mountain-top with not a stitch of clothing to their names and nothing but sticks and stones with which to defend themselves.
Not only must they defend themselves from many wild animals, but they must also compete with them for survival. Sometimes they steal dinner from the wild animals – and vise versa.
After surviving the winter the two boys again find themselves among the Indians. This time they make friends and are taught a great respect for the Comanche Tribe. They are then to be tried at the great Indian Council on Big Smoke Mountain. Will they be released to go home to their families -or will they be condemned to run the warrior way and die?
