Faith and Works in Salvation

The Bible speaks of a most holy faith, thus implying that there are faiths which are not holy and will not save us. People have numerous ideas about saving faith. Some think that since a person is saved not of works, lest any man should boast (Ephesians 2:9), salvation is therefore by faith alone, plus nothing. Others point to the Scripture that says, Faith, if it hath not works, is dead, being alone (James 2:17); and on this basis they emphasize the importance of good works. Since salvation is a matter of eternal life or death, it will be an unspeakable tragedy in the end if we have anything other than the most holy faith. This booklet is intended to provide a proper understanding of saving faith and its accompanying works as taught in the Scriptures.
