My Ocean is Wide

When Ludwig Riehl was a young boy, his mother sent him to the wharf to sell cookies to sailors. He was accosted by a man who enticed him aboard a vessel which was about to sail for America. When Ludwig realized what was happening, he begged to put back on the shore, but to no avail. After arriving in America, Ludwig was sold as an indentured servant to serve as a slave. The man he served was a cruel taskmaster.
